Large Key Calculator

Large key calculators are often easier for students with low vision to use.  Also, with the larger keys, some students can perform operations easier. Calculators that are not solar powered perform better for students with visual impairments.  It is important to obtain a calculator that meets the needs of what the student is learning. For example students in the intermediate grades may need a calculator that computes fractions while students in high school may need a scientific calculator. Large key calculators can be obtained from the following companies:

Talking Calculator

A talking calculator has a built-in speech

synthesizer that reads aloud each number,

symbol, or operation key a user presses;

it also vocalizes the answer to the problem.

There are several high contrast calculator

apps and extensions that are available for

both IOS, Android, and Google Chrome.

They are similar to traditional calculators in that a speech synthesizer identifies a key selected and also the answer.  The Talking Calculator App for IOS can be a solution for a wide variety of ages. The MyScript Calculator recognizes handwriting and provides calculations.
